Laptop, iPad and Kindle loadouts

I’m getting quite a few emails asking for my laptop, ipad and Kindle loadouts.  So here they are.  I also included my daily clothing and backpack contents.  Hey, might as well be complete!

If you’re serious about Cisco studying, don’t buy the smaller Kindles because you’ll be scrolling around too much on diagrams and pdfs.
  • INE Workbooks – bookmarked the beginning of each chapter – thank you for not using Lock Lizard!!!!!
  • CCIE Routing and Switching Exam Certification Guide 4th Ed
  • 50 Cent Laws of Power

Remote Desktop Manager is a great utility that groups all your telnet, ssh, RDP, VNC, etc sessions into one application.  You can open multiple putty windows in tabbed format and you can group sessions and open them in one shot.  For example, I made a group called, “IOU SWITCHES”.  I can right-click the group and open all four switches.
My main labbing tool is Asasel’s IOU, followed by GNS3.  I also have rack rental time with Graded Labs/INE for the final push.  DON’T ASK ME WHERE TO GET IOU !
  • GNS3 with router images, link to the various topologies
  • VMWare Workstation
  • Asasel’s IOU 4.3 (AWESOMENESS because the menu system has options to load in INE, IPExpert and Narbik’s lab configurations)
  • focusbooster app
  • Evernote
  • Dropbox
  • Stardock Fences to organize all the icons
  • Putty
  • Remote Desktop Manager
Study Material on laptop
  • INE workbooks
  • INE Advanced Technology videos
  • Spidered version of Cisco’s online doc pages – this took a LONG time
  • Ruhann’s Short Notes, buy this!!!  I consider this the best value in CCIE R&S studying
